In January of 2008, Asian Resources, Inc. launched its Bridges to Healthcare project, a viable career pathway for ethnically diverse jobseekers throughout the county of Sacramento. This project is an expansion from a pilot Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Emergency Medical Technician training project funded by The California Endowment in 2006. With a $300,000 grant from The California Wellness Foundation, Bridges to Healthcare is now a full program with an expanded service area including South downtown Sacramento and the North Sacramento area (Citrus Heights and Rancho Cordova) as well as additional areas of study such as Licensed Vocational Nursing and Medical Assistant training.
With this grant from The California Wellness Foundation, ARI has graduated 289 participants in Bridges to Healthcare since 2008 and 96% were bilingual or multi-cultural. Out of these graduates, ARI was able to help place 124 into healthcare-related jobs.
