ARI's Summer Youth Program Needs Your Help

Funds needed to serve interested youth this summer

ARI's hallmark program for 31 years has been its Summer Youth Program.  The program provides at-risk youth with important career and leadership skills.

At the last Summer Youth Program orientation, we had  500 interested youth attend.  As one of the few organizations with a summer job program for youth in the state of California, we want to be able to accommodate all interested youth in gaining work experience and job skills. $1,000 per youth ensures that each program participant has an internship experience.

Success Story

Lanisha Williams lives in a local low income complex called Seavey circle and she had no previous work experience when starting the Summer Youth Work Experience Program. However, with her incredible energy and ambitious attitude, she was placed at the Sacramento Press as a worksite. She made great strides by becoming more familiar with computer usage, social media, marketing and more. After completing the program with great reviews from her employer, she used her job searching skills and confident work experience abilities to find a position as a server at Espresso Metro on weekends for $8.00 an hour. She works about 8 hrs a week to balance with her workload and participating in her school criminal justice program. Lanisha reflected on her experience with the program and said “I met a lot of great people whose networks I could use in the future. I used a lot of the benefits that I got from Asian Resources such as making a resume and being prepared for interviews. If I didn’t have the experience of the program, I probably would not have done as well to get my new job.” Fong Tran, the Universal Youth Specialist at Asian Resources, Inc. reported that “Lanisha was an incredible young person that grew into an adult professional by the end of the summer program. She improved her communications skills, teamwork and computer capacities. She is everything that we hope the youth in our WEX program achieve.”
